NCPโ€™s ex-Shibir leader Patwary terms Jamaat-e-Islami anti-Bangladesh

National Citizen Partyโ€™s Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary, a former leader of Jamaat-e-Islamiโ€™s student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, has said that the political philosophy of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is against Bangladesh’s independence and national consciousness. He also said that Jamaat has no chance of going to power.

In a post on his verified Facebook ID on Tuesday, Patwary said: “There is no question of Jamaat taking over state power. Because their political philosophy and past behaviour are against Bangladesh’s independence, map and national consciousness, every time they have wanted to return to the stage of history, there has been an echo from the hearts of the people. This country cannot be returned to darkness again.”

He also said: “We believe in a Bangladesh of justice, humanity and solidarity. Every citizen here has the right, freedom of expression. But this freedom cannot be a shield for any conspiracy. Infiltration in the administration under disguise, politics of division or attempts to seize the state in the name of religion will no longer succeed on this land. The people of Bangladesh, Qaumi, Sunni, Hindu, young and progressive of all classes are united today. In the bond of keeping this land on the path of peace, harmony and humanity.โ€

The NCP leader further said: โ€œThe politics of division will never find a place in Bangladesh, where the blood of martyrs is mixed, in the sky where the call for the liberation war was sounded. Our responsibility is not only prevention, but also protection. It is our responsibility to protect the map of Bangladesh, Islam and the dignity of scholars. Yet we want a politics of humanity, not hatred. We keep the door open for those who have gone astray. So that they return to the Bangladesh of democracy, justice and free thought.โ€

Finally, he wrote that this country is not anyoneโ€™s enemyโ€”this country is a call for coexistence, mutual respect and a new future.
