The killing of a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) member in a stabbing attack by muggers in Sylhet has created panic and shock in the area. He was attacked by criminals while returning home after completing his duty. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors later declared him dead.
According to local sources and law enforcement officials, a group of criminals attempted a mugging in a busy area of the city at night. When the RAB member tried to resist, the attackers stabbed him repeatedly with sharp weapons. He sustained severe injuries in the attack. Colleagues and local residents quickly rescued him and rushed him to the hospital, but he died while undergoing treatment.
Although his detailed identity was not immediately disclosed, sources said the deceased had been serving in the force for a long time. His death has cast a shadow of grief among fellow officers.
Following the incident, law enforcement agencies launched an operation in the area. Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved. CCTV footage from nearby locations has been collected, and several people are being questioned.
