Allegation Against BNP Chairman in Rangabali: Father Tied to Tree and Tortured Over Sonโ€™s Chhatra League Involvement

An allegation has emerged against a local BNP chairman in Rangabali, Patuakhali, for allegedly tying an elderly man to a tree and torturing him because his son was involved in Chhatra League politics. The incident has sparked outrage and tension in the area.

According to local sources, the victim is a farmer from a union in Rangabali who has been living in the area for many years. His son was reportedly involved with the now-banned Chhatra League, which allegedly led to political conflict in the locality.

Family members of the victim claimed that a local BNP leader and his supporters forcibly took the elderly man from his home, tied him to a tree, and physically assaulted him. They also alleged that the victim was subjected to severe mental and physical torture. When family members tried to intervene, they were reportedly threatened as well.

A video of the incident later spread on social media, triggering widespread criticism. Human rights activists and local residents described the incident as inhumane and an example of political revenge.

However, the accused BNP leader denied the allegations, claiming that the accusations were politically motivated and intended to damage his reputation.

Police in Rangabali said the matter is under investigation and legal action will be taken based on the findings. Authorities also warned that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
