Kader Siddique slams Yunus for patronising mobs who disrespect freedom fighters

Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) President Abdul Kader Siddique, Bir Uttam, has wondered how the Pakistani attitude comes into being among Bangladeshโ€™s children under the Yunus regime.

Speaking at the freedom fightersโ€™ rally organised by the Kaderia Bahini at the Bhuiyanpur Government Pilot High School ground in Tangail on Saturday, the valiant freedom fighterโ€”also known as Bangabirโ€”criticised Dr Muhammad Yunus for allowing the Jamaat-NCP mob assault freedom fighters at a discussion on August 28.

Later, 16 guests and attendees were sued under the Anti-Terrorism Act, while the attackers were roaming freely.

The mob chanted slogans against freedom fighter Abdul Latif Siddique, saying that they would hit his cheeks with shoes. Kader Siddique said that this slogan applies to Dr Yunus as well.

โ€œIf you were in favour of the freedom fighters, this should not have happened. I would have got peace even after being tortured by the Pakistani forces. But how did the Pakistani attitude come into being in Bangladesh?”

Chief Adviser Yunus is the son of Dula Mia Saudagor, a jewellery trader and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League. He actively participated in the genocide against the Bangalees as an associate of the Pakistan Army in 1971.

Addressing Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Kader Siddiqui said: โ€œI do not know Waker Sahib well. But I have spent a lot of time in his village before. The role the army played in the movement to oust Sheikh Hasina will be remembered by the people for a thousand years. Some are saying that they will burn the army cantonment; you should see them.

โ€œOn August 5, you asked people to trust you. You said you will protect the country. But where is the protection today? Are those who went to the Moncho-71 programme criminals, or those who went to disrupt it criminals? Don’t you see who the criminal is?”

Expressing frustration over the state of affairs, he said: โ€œThe general secretary of the Krishak Sramik Janata League for 26 years has also been jailed. Mobs urinated on the sculpture of Bangabandhu.

“Just as we all came together in 1971, we will remain united in 2026 as well. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.โ€

Fazlul Haque Bir Pratik presided over the rally, which was also addressed by Kaderia Bahini Commander Abul Kalam Azad Bir Bikram, Company Commander Humayun Bangal, Kader Siddiquiโ€™s younger brother and former chairman of Kalihati Upazila Shamim Al Mansur Azad Siddiqui, and Ghatail Upazila Muktijoddha Santan Commanderโ€™s Convener Atiqur Rahman.

After the event, BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists attacked the participants of the rally. Kader Siddique was escorted out of Bhuiyanpur under police guard.

When he was leaving the venue, Uday, the son of the president of the KSJLโ€™s Bhuiyanpur Upazila unit, came under attack.

The attackers shouted slogans against Kader Siddique near his car. They alleged that the rally was organised with the support of Awami League affiliates.

They accused Kader Siddique of attempting to revive ties with what they described as the “fascist Awami League,” vowing to resist such efforts.
