Bangabandhuโs grandson Sajeeb Wazed Joy has asked the Awami League supporters and all Bengalis who believe in the spirit of independence to go to Dhanmondi 32 and remember the father of the nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by placing a bouquet of flowers in front of his dismantled residence and lighting a candle.
โBangabandhu is not the property of any political party,โ said Sajeeb Wazed, the son of Awami League President and five-time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a video message early Wednesday after a long break.

August 15 is the fateful day when Bangabandhu and most of his family were assassinated. He deplored the demolition of the residence by the Yunug Gang from which Bangabandhu proclaimed Bangladesh’s independence.
โThe building is no more. But that address, Dhanmondi 32, is still there. That soil is still there. And the soil can never be erased. The spirit can never be erased. And I believe you have not forgotten Bangabandhu.โ
He urged the party supporters to have a little courage, because there is nothing to fear.
โThe time of this illegal government, a government of the razakars has come to an end. The history of 1971 can never be erased from the soil of Bangladesh. Bangabandhu can never be erased.โ
He believes that Bangabandhu, the spirit, and the history of independence cannot be erased from the minds of the people.

At the beginning of the video message, Sajeeb Wazed posed some questions to the people of Bangladesh: โAre you well today? Are you safe in Bangladesh today? Are you free today? Do you dare to speak out against this illegal government today? Do you get the opportunity to speak out for Bangladesh, for the independence of Bangladesh today, or are you afraid of being arrested?โ
He said that for the past year, this illegal, unelected, and razakar-backed government has clung to power, and they have been trying to erase the history and the spirit of independence. They are destroying every monument of the Liberation War one by one with bulldozers. They have even destroyed the historic residence of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi 32.
Sajeeb Wazed said the Jamaat-Shibir forces now want to change the Constitution. โThe razakars who killed three million people in our country and tortured 200,000 women now want to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan again. Do you want that?โ
