The Bangladesh Awami Leagueโs central office at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue was vandalised by a mob of pro-government groups on Thursday.
They also vandalised the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Islami Chhatra Shibirโs Dhaka South unit hung a banner in the building in protest against the Awami Leagueโs Dhaka Lockdown programme, which saw a huge response from the common people.

Witnesses said the attack began around 1pm after hours of provocative gatherings by Jamaat-Shibir activists in front of the building.

Awami Leagueโs Lockdown: Yunus regimeโs blasts, arsons turn boomerang
โThis is the democratic reform Yunus and his cronies are preaching, where the largest and most influential political party is under constant attack from the interim government and its partners,โ the party said.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of 10 to 15 people gathered wood, cartons, etc. in a place on the fourth floor of the office and set it on fire. When the intensity of the fire subsided, the occupants started it again.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 last year, the building was set on fire. Then, looting continued throughout August.
Not only this building, but also the Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon and the Awami League president’s office in Dhanmondi were set on fire. Goods were also looted from there. Since then, these three buildings have been largely abandoned.
