Lockdown: Awami League warns party supporters against Yunusโ€™ conspiracies

The Bangladesh Awami League has called upon party leaders, activists, and the people to remain vigilant against the conspiracies of the illegal usurpers and their accomplices surrounding the โ€œDhaka Lockdownโ€ programme.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party said that Muhammad Yunus and his cohorts have unjustly deprived the Awami League of its democratic rights and violated the human rights of its leaders and activists. Moreover, they are staging a mockery of justice through false and harassing cases.

โ€œWe have repeatedly warned this illegitimate occupying force. We have said that Awami League leaders and activists know how to fight for their rights through struggle and movement. True to its tradition, the Awami League has announced a political program to assert those rights.

โ€œThe people have already responded enthusiastically to the announced Dhaka Lockdown programme. The overwhelming public response has terrified the illegal occupiers, and the scenes from Dhaka over the past two days clearly show how successful the Awami Leagueโ€™s program has been.โ€

The statement said that Yunus is conspiring to undermine the success of this democratic movement and are either committing or sponsoring acts of terrorism and violence themselves, then trying to shift the blame onto the Awami League.

โ€œThere is no evidence that Awami League leaders or activists have been involved in any of the places where such incidents occurred. Instead, members of the policeโ€™s intelligence wing have been abducting Awami League activists from their homes, fabricating stories of sabotage, and filing false cases against them.

โ€œDespite heavy restrictions, several news outlets have already reported that these acts of violence and terrorism are taking place with the tacit support of the administration.โ€

The statement asked party leaders and activists to uphold the peopleโ€™s spontaneous support for the Awami Leagueโ€™s lockdown programme and carry out the lockdown in a peaceful manner.

โ€œThe goal of the Bangladesh Awami League is to break through all webs of conspiracy and ensure that the illegal, usurping, fascist Yunus clique cannot deceive the people or trample their rights any further.

โ€œWe will continue this struggle until the rights of the people are fully restoredโ€”Inshallah.โ€
