Sheikh Hasina: I am fine and have no health issues

Awami League President and five-time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly condemned rumours of her death and illness, which she says are being spread by sympathisers of the Yunus regime on social media.

Speaking during a virtual discussion on Tuesday, she urged the public to unite against what she called the “fascist and killer Yunus gang” and terrorist groups like BNP-Jamaat.

“They are spreading lies about my healthโ€”that I am very sick. No! I must reclaim the country and save its people. I am perfectly fine,” she declared.

“They say this to demoralise our leaders and workers. Let me say clearly: I am in good health. I have not suffered from any illness. In 15 years and beyond, I never took a single day off,” she added.

In a separate address, Sheikh Hasina accused Dr. Muhammad Yunus of attempting to hold a one-sided election and vowed to remove the interim government with the people’s support.

She demanded the withdrawal of cases against army personnel, police, and countless Awami League leaders and activists, insisting that all those imprisoned be released immediately.

Bangabandhu’s elder daughter, Sheikh Hasina, also pledged to prosecute the “killers and anarchists” in the Yunus camp responsible for the murders of police, Awami League members, minorities, lawyers, and journalists.

“From Abu Sayed to Mugdho, every killing is part of Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s meticulously planned design,” she asserted.

The Yunus forces have done the killings themselves, but they are blaming the Awami League. Those who are guilty have been given indemnity. Yunus did not investigate the killings and the use of 7.62 bullets.

“This militant fascist, Yunus, has banned Awami League activities and cancelled its registration. He has outlawed the Chhatra League. He plans elections excluding the Awami League. Is this fair?

“We will see how these elections unfold. The people are the votersโ€”they must remember that. We will expose any vote theft. They rigged the DUCSU election, but they cannot do it everywhere. Everyone must unite, knowing that the people own their votes. Insha Allah, victory will belong to the people,” she said.

“Justice will prevail in this country. Democracy will be restored to preserve the democratic process.”

Sheikh Hasina emphasised that the Awami League has always come to power through elections and urged party workers to unite, protect the nation from this “evil force,” and ensure the people’s safety, food, homes, electricity, and jobs.

Though Yunus told foreign journalists he knew nothing of the plans after seizing power, he later admitted at the Clinton Global Initiative that the events were orchestrated through his “meticulous design,” with Mahfuj Alam and his team as mastermindsโ€”a fact now proven, Hasina said.

People Are Suffering

Dr. Yunus, who seized power unconstitutionally in violation of the Constitution, has not only wrecked the economy but also tarnished Bangladesh’s international image, she charged.

In places like Jamalpur’s Bora Sarishabari, every leader and activist is under severe oppressionโ€”affecting ordinary citizens, hardworking people, and religious labourers alike.

“Why did the Awami League arrest and kill him? His modest home is occupied. Today, his daughters are helpless, his sons cannot stay home, and his wife is left vulnerable. Such oppression marks every household.

“We achieved food self-sufficiency. We provided free treatment and 30 types of medicines through community clinics. We brought electricity to every home. Today, those homes are plunging into darkness.”

She said that there is no region in Bangladesh where the BNP-NCP-Jamaat-Shibir together have not tortured the leaders and activists of the Awami League.

All these small groups who did not have Tk1,000 in their pockets even two days ago, today they have become the owners of hundreds of crores of taka.
