118 Juvenile Gangs Active Across the Capital, 16 in Mohammadpur Alone

The activities of juvenile gangs are rising at an alarming rate across the capital. According to recent information, at least 118 juvenile gangs are currently active in different areas of Dhaka. The highest concentration is in Mohammadpur, where 16 gangs are operating.

Sources from law enforcement agencies say that these gangs are mainly involved in theft, mugging, drug trafficking, extortion, and various acts of violence. In many cases, they use social media to organize their groups and show their strength, which is making the situation more complicated.

Experts say that family neglect, social decline, dropping out of school, and exposure to criminal environments are among the main reasons why teenagers are getting involved in crime. In addition, the temptation of earning money easily and the influence of gang culture are attracting many of them.

Residents of Mohammadpur say that after evening, groups of teenagers gather in certain areas, creating fear among local people. Many residents feel insecure and are demanding quick and effective action.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies say that regular operations are being conducted to control these juvenile gangs. Several individuals have already been arrested, and surveillance has been increased. Authorities have also called on parents and educational institutions to be more aware and take responsibility.

The spread of juvenile gangs in the capital has now become a major social challenge. Experts believe that without coordinated efforts, it will be difficult to bring this problem under long-term control.
