MPO teachers to march to DSHE with plates and bowls Sunday

The protesting MPO teachers and employees will go to the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) on Sunday to demand three points, including an increase in rent allowance.

Principal Delwar Hossain Azizi, member secretary of the MPO-affiliated Education Nationalization Alliance, made this announcement on Saturday night. He said that they will go to the Education Building with plates and bowls after 12 noon.

On this day, MPO-affiliated teachers and employees of private educational institutions held a black flag procession and protest rally amidst the sit-in program, hunger strike and work stoppage.

MPO-affiliated teachers and employees started the black flag procession from the Central Shaheed Minar. When the procession reached Kadam Foara Chattar via Doel Chattar, the teachers and employees held a protest rally. More than a thousand teachers and employees participated in it.

About 100 teachers participated in the hunger strike. Principal Delwar Hossain Azizi said that some of them have fallen ill. Other teachers are on a sit-in program at Shaheed Minar. On the other hand, teachers and employees are on strike in educational institutions across the country.

Teachers and employees under MPO started a movement in front of the National Press Club on October 12, demanding 20% rent of their basic salary, a medical allowance of Tk1,500 and a festival allowance of 75% for employees. Later, after a barbaric police assault, they started a continuous program at the Central Shaheed Minar. At the same time, teachers across the country started a strike.

Principal Azizi also said: “Teachers across the country will not leave the streets until their demands are met. The ministry has offered to hold talks. But there is no need for any more talks. Issue a notification; otherwise, we do not need the advisor. The longer the demands are delayed, the more crises will arise. We will spend it at the Shaheed Minar.”
