A fierce clash between the police and the leaders and activists of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) took place in front of the Patiya police station in Chattogram around 9:30pm on Tuesday.
Four police members and at least six ADSM activists were injured in the incident.
According to eyewitnesses and police sources, the ADSM activists captured a Chhatra League leader in front of the Central Shaheed Minar in Patiya at around 9pm and brought him to the police station premises.
However, the police did not want to arrest the Chhatra League leader as there was no case against him.

When the situation heated up, the police took the Chhatra League leader into their custody and baton-charged the students for creating a mob.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Zahed Md Nazmun Noor said that the ADSM leaders and activists created a mob and beat up the police. They were breaking the security cordon and entering the police station. At that time, a scuffle broke out with the police. Three-four policemen were injured in this.
The Chhatra League leader was identified as Dipangkar Dey, vice president of the Rangamati district unit.
Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Media Cell spokesperson Arafat Ahmed Rony announced that they will observe the โPatiya Blockade Programmeโ at the police station intersection at 10am on Wednesday.
He alleged that the OC attacked the leaders of the NCP and ADSM with police in 4-5 vehicles.
