Violence in Keraniganj: Attack on Nazrul Islam Sparks Fear in the Area

Another incident of violence has been reported from Ruhitpur in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of Dhaka. Former Vice President of the Awami Swechchhasebak League, Nazrul Islam, was allegedly attacked by an armed group, triggering widespread concern and panic among local residents.

According to local sources, the attack was carried out in a premeditated manner. The attackers reportedly used sharp weapons such as machetes, cleavers, and hammers, leaving Nazrul Islam seriously injured. The incident has created a sense of insecurity among people in the area.

Following the attack, Nazrul Islam was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. No official statement has yet been released regarding his exact condition.

Leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations have alleged that several members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were involved in the attack. However, no official response has been received from the BNP regarding these allegations so far.

Local residents claim that political tensions in different parts of Keraniganj have been rising in recent times, often leading to violent confrontations. They have demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and called for strict legal action.

Law enforcement agencies have stated that the incident is being investigated seriously, and efforts are underway to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Analysts say that while political differences may exist, resorting to violence is never acceptable. Such incidents not only destabilize the political environment but also threaten public safety and normal life.
