I Will Never Seek Justice Againโ€โ€”Emotional Statement by Police Constable in Court Sparks Discussion

In the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in the capital, an emotional statement made by Police Constable Shoaibur Rahman Joyโ€”who was shown arrested in a case related to the July violenceโ€”has sparked renewed discussion.

On Wednesday, while being taken from the prison cell to the courtroom, he said in a tearful voice that he wants to return to his young child and be able to see his family. In the court premises, he further stated: โ€œI had sought justice for the killings of my colleagues. Now I will never seek justice again.โ€

According to case records, he was shown arrested in connection with an incident that took place in Rampura area of Dhaka during the July violence. However, details regarding the allegations against him and the specifics of the case have not been fully clarified by the concerned authorities.

Lawyers present in the courtroom and eyewitnesses said that many in attendance became emotional after hearing his statement. The constable claimed that during his duty, he had sought justice for the deaths of his colleagues in violent incidents, and now he himself is facing legal proceedings.

The incident has generated mixed reactions on social media. Some have described his statement as a humanitarian appeal, while others believe that the matter should be resolved through proper judicial procedures considering the ongoing case.

Law enforcement authorities have not yet provided any official detailed comment regarding the matter. Court sources have stated that since the case is under trial, it is not possible to make a final comment at this stage.

The matter remains under judicial process, and further details are expected to emerge in upcoming hearings.
