The editor of Bangladesh Pratidin, Naeem Nizam, has strongly criticized the recently outgoing interim governmentโs Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Legal Adviser Asif Nazrul. In a post on social media, he alleged that during their tenure, the country had turned into a โmob-ruled state.โ
Naeem Nizam stated, โDr. Yunus and Asif Nazrul turned the country into a โmobโs republic.โโ He further commented that Dr. Muhammad Yunus may be remembered in Bangladeshโs history as a โharsh ruler.โ
Reflecting on his past stance, he mentioned that he once supported Dr. Yunus. He noted that when many media outlets were reluctant to publish news about him, Bangladesh Pratidin continued to do so. He also added that criticisms made by Sheikh Hasina regarding Yunus did not seem acceptable to him at the time. However, considering the current situation, he now believes that those assessments may have been partially correct.
Commenting on the situation following the governmentโs departure, Naeem Nizam said that disorder and โmob cultureโ had taken precedence over the rule of law during that period. In his words, โBangladesh has never witnessed such a severe form of governance before, and may not see it again in the future.โ
He also raised questions about the recent stance of Asif Nazrul. According to Naeem Nizam, after losing power, Nazrul has begun speaking out against Dr. Yunus, claiming that certain decisions were made without his knowledge. However, Nizam himself acknowledged that he could not independently verify these claims.
These strong remarks by Naeem Nizam regarding the activities of the outgoing government and its top officials have already sparked widespread discussion and debate on social media.
