Schoolboyโ€™s Body Recovered from Paddy Field in Rajshahi

Rajshahi: Police have recovered the body of an 11-year-old schoolboy from a paddy field in the Dharmapur Beel area of Darshanpara Union in Paba upazila of Rajshahi. The deceased, Adib Ahnaf, was the son of Mostafizur Rahman and a fourth-grade student of Dharmapur Government Primary School.

Police recovered the body on Monday (March 2) morning after being informed by local residents. The body was later sent to the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

According to police, Adib left home on Sunday night (March 1) with his grandfather, Shamsul Huda, to attend Tarawih prayers at Dharmapur Jame Mosque. However, he did not return home later that night. Family members searched for him in different places but could not find any trace.

Early Monday morning, several farmers spotted a body lying in a paddy field and informed the police. Officers went to the scene and prepared an inquest report. A belt from the boyโ€™s pants was found tied around his neck, and police suspect he was strangled to death.

Officer-in-Charge Habibur Rahman of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police said the body has been sent for autopsy and the exact motive behind the killing is not yet known. Police are conducting an investigation to identify and arrest those involved.

The victimโ€™s uncle, Mokhched Ali, alleged that it was a planned murder and demanded a proper investigation and exemplary punishment for those responsible.

The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the area, with local residents calling for the swift arrest and strict punishment of the perpetrators.
