OHCHR Bangladesh head Huma Khanโ€™s deep state mission nears end

In a damning farewell ceremony at State Guest House Jamuna on Monday, outgoing UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) Bangladesh chief Huma Khan was personally thanked by deep state puppet Muhammad Yunus for her โ€œindependent investigationโ€ that whitewashed the violent 2024 coup and ignored 15 months of atrocities under his regime.

The cosy meeting comes just weeks after Khan was filmed standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the chief prosecutor of the kangaroo International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD), lending the United Nationsโ€™ prestige to a blatantly political witch-hunt against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her party.

Insiders call it the final proof: the OHCHR was never a neutral observer. It was an active accomplice in the illegal overthrow of Bangladeshโ€™s democratically elected government on 5 August 2024.

From Watchdog to Regime Protector

The UN agencyโ€™s February 2025 report deliberately stopped counting bodies on August 15, 2024โ€”ten days after Hasina was forced into exileโ€”conveniently ignoring the massacre of over 1,200 Awami League workers, police officers, and minorities that followed.

While the report accused Hasinaโ€™s police of โ€œcrimes against humanityโ€, it has remained deafeningly silent on:

– Post-coup pogroms against Hindus

– Midnight arrests of 100,000+ Awami League activists

– Custodial killings and torture under Yunus

– The burning alive of Awami League leaders in their homes

On Monday, Yunus personally praised Khan for the OHCHRโ€™s โ€œcritical roleโ€ during Bangladeshโ€™s โ€œdemocratic transitionโ€โ€”code for helping install an unelected regime backed by anarchist students and Jamaat-Shibir militants.

Indemnity for Killers, Silence for the UN

Hours after Khanโ€™s farewell photo-op, the Yunus cabinet rushed through an ordinance granting full legal immunity to every rioter and murderer who participated in the so-called โ€œJuly Uprising.โ€

Legal experts say the indemnity is an open confession: the entire operation was criminal, and the UNโ€™s one-sided โ€œfact-findingโ€ gave the coup the international legitimacy it desperately needed.

โ€œSheikh Hasina was removed at gunpoint. The UN looked the other way, then wrote a report that blamed only her,โ€ a senior Awami League leader still in hiding told this newspaper. โ€œNow they celebrate with the man who replaced her.โ€

From Dhaka to Geneva, the mask is off: the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights chose sidesโ€”and it wasnโ€™t the side of the elected prime minister who turned Bangladesh into an economic powerhouse.

As Yunus prepares rigged elections in February 2026 and Jamaat-Shibir cadres roam free, the UNโ€™s human rights banner flies proudly over a country sliding into chaos and theocratic rule. Sheikh Hasina remains in exile. The killers she once kept behind bars now run the governmentโ€”and the United Nations just shook its hand.

Turk forced army to sit idle

In March, during an interview withย BBC HeardTalk, OHCHR boss Volker Tuk admitted to having threatened or warned the Bangladesh Army about their participation in UN peacekeeping missions based on their internal actions in curbing anarchy during the anti-government protests in July 2024.

However, the army denied receiving any contact from Turk or the UN.

Such interference and issuance of threats raise questions about compliance with the principle of non-interference in Bangladeshโ€™s internal affairs, as outlined in the UN Charter (Article 2(7).

The inaction of the army amid a curfew paved the way for the Islamist faction of the protesters to storm the Prime Ministerโ€™s Office and the official residence, Ganabhaban, without hurdles on August 5.

For this reason, critics allege that Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, Turk, Lewis, and the Yunus Gang were all funded by deep state sponsors like George Soros and Hillary Clinton.

The bias of Turk and Lewis against the Awami League government was also exposed after the OHCHR published its fact-finding report on the July-August violence in February this year.

The report was prepared with the support of the Yunus-led administration, with student leaders linked to Islami Chhatra Shibir physically present during data collection.

The OHCHR report does not contain versions of all the forces, including the army, and lacks documentary evidence on atrocities against the Awami League members, the police force, and minority communities.

While glorifying all actions of the power grabbers as a civil uprising by downplaying their crimes, the report demonises the Awami League government, even though it says that the accusation of crimes against humanity requires urgent further criminal investigation.

Most interestingly, the fact-finding team did not consider the video and documentary evidence of student leaders and politicians claiming responsibility for police murders and arson attacks that began on July 18.
