An attack was carried out on Shailkupa Upazila Chhatra League General Secretary Md. Babu and Municipal Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Sujon in Jhenaidahโs Shailkupa upazila. Babuโs wife was also injured in the incident. All three are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
According to local sources, a group of attackers suddenly assaulted them while they were in the area. The attackers allegedly used iron rods and sticks, leaving the victims seriously injured. Witnesses said Babuโs wife was also beaten when she tried to protect them during the attack.
Chhatra League leaders and activists claimed that BNP supporters were behind the assault. They alleged that the attack was carried out to create fear and establish political dominance in the area. Tension has spread throughout the locality following the incident.
Family members of Md. Babu described the assault as a planned political attack. They demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible.
No statement from local BNP leaders was immediately available regarding the allegations. Law enforcement officials said they are investigating the incident and working to identify those involved.
