Former Prime Minister and President of the Bangladesh Awami League, Sheikh Hasina, has expressed firm confidence that justice will one day be ensured for the killings of police personnel and leaders and activists of the Awami League. She said that those involved in acts of violence and murder will not be able to escape the law.
In a statement, Sheikh Hasina said that at different times in the country, many police officers as well as leaders and activists of the Awami League have lost their lives due to political violence. She noted that these killings are not only personal tragedies but also direct attacks on law and order and the democratic process of the country.
She stated, โJustice for the killings of police and Awami League leaders and activists will one day be delivered. Those responsible for these crimes will be brought under the law and punished.โ
The Awami League president further said that politics of violence and terrorism can never bring welfare to the country. To maintain peace, stability, and development, it is essential to uphold the rule of law and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Sheikh Hasina also expressed deep sympathy for the families of the slain police personnel and Awami League leaders and activists, saying that their sacrifices will not go in vain. She added that ensuring justice would be the true way to honor their memory.
She called upon the people of the country to remain united against violence and anarchy and to work together to maintain peace and law and order.
