Arrested While Laying Flowers at Dhanmondi 32 on March 7: Sheikh Hasina Directs Support for Families of Three Rickshaw Pullers, Three Women and a Child

On the occasion of the historic 7 March Speech Day, three rickshaw pullers, three women and a child were reportedly arrested while attempting to lay flowers at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital. Following the incident, Sheikh Hasina directed party leaders and activists to stand beside the families of those affected.

According to sources, leaders and activists of the Awami League at different levels have stepped forward with humanitarian assistance in response to the directive. As part of this effort, an initiative was taken by Tofazzel Hossain Ronu, a resident of Phulpurโ€“Tarakanda and the convener of the South Korea Awami League, to support the affected families.

Under this initiative, a grassroots activist of Tarakanda Upazila Chhatra League traveled to Mirpur in the capital and delivered one monthโ€™s worth of groceries to the families of those arrested. The assistance included rice, lentils, cooking oil and other essential food items.

Organizers said the support was provided from a humanitarian perspective so that the family members of the arrested individuals could receive at least some temporary relief. They added that similar assistance efforts would continue in the future.

Local leaders and activists said this initiative of standing beside vulnerable families reflects compassion and humanity and sets an example of social solidarity.
