Liberation War Affairs Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has said that the history of Bangladeshโs independence cannot be written without Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He stated that the declaration of independence was also read on behalf of Bangabandhu by Ziaur Rahman.
The minister said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the central figure behind the background, leadership and struggle of the historic Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Under his leadership, the Bengali nation united for independence and ultimately achieved freedom after a long struggle.
Hafiz Uddin said the historical reality is that the declaration of independence was made under Bangabandhuโs direction and leadership, and at that time Ziaur Rahman read the declaration on his behalf from the Kalurghat radio station in Chattogram.
He also said that it is important to present the true history of the Liberation War to the new generation. There should be no room for distortion of history, he added.
The minister further said that the real history of independence must be preserved by properly evaluating the contributions of the freedom fighters and the leadership of Bangabandhu.
At the same time, he called on everyone to move the country forward by upholding the spirit of the Liberation War.
