State-sponsored mob attacks to remove officials from various government and private jobs and nepotism in contractual appointments are the two major characteristics of the Yunus regimeโs misrule since August last year.
The involvement of the chief adviser, other advisers and leaders of the Kingโs party NCP, BNP and Jamaat in earning a hefty amount of money from appointments, transfers and promotions is also an open secret.

But an office order from the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), under the Chief Adviserโs Office, dated September 11, has created a hype.
The office order contains the decisions of the BEPZA Executive Board, which recently recommended promotion of 10 staff of the head office and four EPZs, signed by Member (Finance) and Executive Director (additional charge) ANM Foyzul Haque.

One of these lucky staff is the driver (administration), Md Lavlu Mia, who was promoted to the post of deputy assistant engineer (transport).

As per government documents, this is a 10th-grade job which requires an applicant to have a four-year diploma.
The decision was made by the BEPZA Executive Board, which is chaired by the executive chairman, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman. The three members of the Board are ANM Foyzul Haque, Abdullah Al Mamun and Md. Ashraful Kabir.
Activists say such promotions are the tip of the iceberg. It implies that the top officials at the BEPZA are involved in more serious blunders, corruption and embezzlement of public funds due to the culture of impunity and lack of accountability during the Yunus regime.
