American citizen found dead in The Westin Dhaka, no autopsy done

Police have recovered the body of an American national from The Westin Dhaka in the capitalโ€™s Gulshan-2.

Terrence Arvelle Jackson, aged about 50, checked into Room No. 808 on August 29. He had been in Bangladesh on a business trip for the last few months, Inspector (Operation) Mizanur Rahman of Gulshan police station said.

Police handed over the body to the US Embassy in Dhaka without conducting an autopsy.

Jackson did not respond when a staffer of The Westin Dhaka checked on him in the afternoon. Later, the authorities informed the police. Police and embassy officials went to the spot, opened the room with a master key and found him dead.

OC Hafizur Rahman said that they reviewed the CCTV footage in The Westin Dhaka for the last two days. There was nothing suspicious. โ€œWe primarily suspect that he died of natural causes. A medical team was present with the embassy officials. We handed over the body to them.”

Authorities at The Westin Dhaka and the US Embassy did not make any comment.
