Awami League President and five-time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed grief and sympathy over the death of dozens of children and others following the plane crash at Milestone College’s permanent campus at Uttara on Monday.
In a statement, the daughter of Bangabandhu extended her sympathies to the bereaved and wished a swift recovery for the injured. She called for comprehensive support and responsible action.
Media reports say at least 20 people, mostly children, were killed, over 150 injured, and many remained missing in this heartbreaking accident.

She said that the plane crash has caused a humanitarian crisis in the affected area and its surroundings.

Sheikh Hasina urged everyone, including local Awami League leaders, members of affiliated organisations, and residents of the area, to come forward with full cooperation and a sense of responsibility to assist with rescue efforts and help relocate people to safety.
She also appealed to everyone to assist in facilitating treatment for the injured, including through blood donation and ensuring access to medical care.



In her message, she said: โMay all overcome the grief of this devastating tragedy. I pray to the Almighty Creator to grant strength to the bereaved to endure this loss.โ
Sheikh Hasina’s son and former adviser, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, also expressed deep shock at the tragic incident in Uttara. He prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy. My heart goes out to the grieving families who have lost their beloved children, and I extend my deepest condolences to them during this time of unbearable sorrow. No words can truly heal such pain.

“I pray for the swift recovery of the injured and urge the authorities to ensure they receive the best possible medical care. I also call for a thorough and transparent investigation into the cause of this accident so that such a calamity never repeats.
“To the people of Bangladesh, to the students, parents, teachers, and community members affected by this horrific eventโplease know that you are not alone. We share your grief, and we stand united in our commitment to justice, safety, and accountability.”
Meanwhile, Mohammad A Arafat, the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, prayed for the souls of those who lost their lives in this horrific incident. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
