Chief Coordinator of the Ganosamhati Andolon, Zonayed Saki, has said that inequality has not decreased after the July mass uprising but rather has increased.
This is contrary to the aspirations of the students and the public. This cannot be allowed to continue, he said at a protest rally organised by the Bangladesh Daily Wage-Based Workers Welfare Council in front of the Shrama Bhaban in Bijoynagar in the capital on Monday.
Hundreds of workers have been protesting since morning, demanding the abolition of the โDaily Wage Based Temporary Workers Policy 2025โ and the relaxation of the age limit of those working on daily wages in government offices, departments, sub-district offices and autonomous institutions and making them permanent in their respective institutions. They raised various slogans during this time.
Zonayed Saki said that nearly 50,000 employees have been serving in various state institutions for a long time for nominal remuneration. But they are not getting their fair share.

The government has not been able to determine its identity yet. They have not made any policy regarding jobs. They are deprived of festival allowance, medical allowance, and annual casual leave, he added.
โWe believe that two policies cannot be followed in one state. Labour rights must be ensured to protect the rights of workers. Recruitment and trade in government institutions must be stopped. Workers hired on a daily wage basis must be allowed to form unions. So that they can agitate for their rights.โ
He expressed his anger and said that science laboratories are paid 22 days’ salary per month. Many such institutions are abusing the policy. He urged the government to look into this matter seriously.
At the protest rally, convener of the Bangladesh Daily Wage-Based Employees Welfare Council Md Borhan Uddin presided over the rally, and member secretary Mizanur Rahman moderated it. Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Ismail, Advocate Moniruzzaman Link, and other labour leaders also spoke.
Labour leader Md Borhan Uddin said that daily wage employees from various sectors, including the Department of Archaeology, National Zoo, Social Services, Railways, Public Health and Bangladesh Medical, participated in this programme. He drew the government’s attention to implementing this demand.
Following the demonstration, two crude bombs exploded in front of the central office of the Ganosamhati Andolon around 8pm.

In protest, the organisation immediately held a protest march from the Hatirpool office to the Katabon intersection via Kacha Bazar.
Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel blamed the Awami League for the blasts. โThe fallen Awami League is still conspiring to thwart the aspirations of the people, and in continuation of this, this cocktail explosion has been carried out to terrify the country. Tomorrow is one year since the July Uprising. Such attacks at this time are purposeful.”
He said the progress in justice that the people had hoped for from the interim government has not yet been as expected, and the law and order are not normal.
