The Jamaat-controlled, West-backed Bangladesh interim government is facing severe criticism for not joining the 21 Muslim countries to condemn the โbrutal aggressionโ by the Israeli regime against Iran, warning of grave regional consequences.
The joint communiquรฉ was signed by the foreign ministers of Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Somalia, Libya, Mauritania, Pakistan, Turkey, Chad, and Brunei.
They expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation and called for an immediate halt to Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.
As a Muslim majority country, where Islam has been the state religion since 1988, Bangladesh has always been vocal against the persecution of Muslims across the world, including in Palestine and Iran.
But the interim government, led by US puppet Muhammad Yunus, has refrained from voicing its concern in tandem with the 21 Muslim countries. Bangladesh only stated on June 13 that the Foreign Ministry was โdeeply concernedโ over the attack and described it as a โblatant act of hostility.โ
Experts say Democrat Party donor Yunus has remained silent as the deep state backs him. He captured power in August last year by overthrowing the secular Awami League government through a meticulously designed conspiracy, massive violence, and mass killings by local radical Islamists, like Jamaat-e-Islami and Hefazat-e-Islam, and the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Tayyiba.
Soon after, Yunus supporters celebrated as the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner was named one of “The Muslim 500: The World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims” for 2025. He is also featured in the book’s top 50 list, prepared by the Amman-based Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre.

Bangladesh does not have diplomatic relations with Israel. In April, the interim government reinstated the written instruction on passports, prohibiting travel to Israel. The ban persisted during the Awami League tenure, but in 2020, the government removed the mention from passports.
Last week, the Bangladesh embassy in Tehran launched a hotline for its citizens staying in Iran as the fight escalated due to frequent missile attacks, causing civil and military casualties, including the assassination of many top-ranking commanders, nuclear scientists.
What is in the joint communiquรฉ?
โThe escalation of such tensions poses serious threats to the security and stability of the entire region,โ the statement warned, emphasising that continued Israeli attacks on Iran could lead to dangerous repercussions.
The ministers also stressed the importance of protecting nuclear facilities that are under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards, in line with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, while referring to the Israeli attack on the Natanz nuclear facility in the central Iranian city of Isfahan.
They described any attack on nuclear installations as a clear violation of international and humanitarian law.
Reaffirming their commitment to non-proliferation, the ministers called on all regional countries to swiftly join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
The foreign ministers rejected and condemned all Israeli acts of aggression against Iran that violate international law and the UN Charter, and called for de-escalation efforts and stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire to avoid further instability in the region.
Iranโs Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has had phone calls with a number of his counterparts from West Asia and Europe in recent days, urging them to take a stand against the Israeli regimeโs continued aggression against the Islamic Republic.
