A journalist from Somoy TV was reportedly attacked while performing his professional duties at the administrative center, Bangladesh Secretariat, in the capital.
According to allegations, the incident occurred when the journalist was recording video footage of a situation unfolding in the Secretariat area. Witnesses said tensions had developed around a program or incident at the location, and several journalists were present to gather information and capture visuals.
At that time, an NCP leader allegedly became agitated and physically assaulted the Somoy TV journalist. It has also been reported that the journalist’s equipment was damaged during the attack.
Other journalists and people present at the scene later intervened and tried to calm the situation.
The incident has sparked strong reactions among members of the media. Journalists have condemned the attack and demanded that those responsible be identified and brought under the law as soon as possible. They stated that attacks on journalists while carrying out their duties are unacceptable and pose a serious threat to press freedom.
