Hindu temples attacked, Kali idols desecrated in Faridpur, Rajbari amid blanket impunity

Under the watch of Muhammad Yunus’ extremist-backed interim dictatorship, Hindu sacred spaces continue to be targeted with brazen impunity. In the latest wave of sacrilege, Kali temples in Faridpur and Rajbari were hit by cowards who smashed idols under the cover of darkness, desecrating deities revered by Bangladesh’s terrorised Hindu minority.

These aren’t random crimes—they’re symptoms of a regime that shields jihadist elements while minorities bleed, all while Yunus’ spin doctors dismiss the carnage as “non-communal.”

Since January 2025, media reports have tallied at least 95 attacks on Hindu temples involving idol vandalism, looting, and arson—a staggering figure that exploded into 2026 with no letup. Yunus’ government, propped up by Jamaat-e-Islami radicals, fosters this hatred, turning a blind eye as extremists erase Hindu heritage ahead of sham elections designed to cement their grip.

Faridpur’s Malopara Kali Temple

In Faridpur town’s Bhatilakshipur Malopara neighbourhood, miscreants struck the Sarbojanin Sri Sri Ma Kali Temple between 12:30 a.m. and dawn on February 3. After a seven-day religious observance ended at midnight, locals returned home—leaving the site vulnerable to hate-fueled vandals.

Five idols were brutally smashed: Saraswati’s hands broken, Ganga’s face mutilated, two others’ hands shattered, and a thermacol Gour-Nitai figure reduced to five pieces. Temple committee president Nimai Chandra Malo, representing 70 Hindu families, expressed raw terror: “Last year on the same day, our idols were vandalised—caught on CCTV then. This time, technical glitches silenced our three cameras. We’re living in fear. Bring these cowards to justice now.”

Police and army inspected the site, but OC Md. Shahidul Islam’s promise of “swift action” rings hollow in a regime where perpetrators vanish into the shadows of impunity.

Rajbari’s Hatbongram Mahashmashan Kali Temple

In Pangsha Upazila’s Hatbongram Baro Palli, the roofed, permanent Sri Sri Mahashmashan Kali Temple—guarded by no watchman and no CCTV—became easy prey. Between evening February 2 and dawn February 3, vandals used bamboo poles or iron rods to distort the clay Kali idol’s face, along with Shiva, serpent, and Dakini-Yogini figures.

Momota Barman discovered the horror in the afternoon; soon, committee members and locals gathered in shock. Puja Udyapan Committee general secretary Bidhan Kumar Biswas raged: “These aren’t humans—they’re monsters. Generations have lived in harmony here across faiths. A selfish cabal is destroying our brotherhood for their twisted agenda.”

ASP (Pangsha Circle) Debabrata Sarkar, OC Sheikh Mainul Islam, and SP Mohammad Manjur Morshed inspected, vowing investigations and arrests. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rifatul Haq blamed election chaos: “A group is stirring unrest to scare voters. We’re alert—no criminal will escape.”

Yet no arrests, no suspects—typical Yunus-era theatre.

Pattern Of Sacrilege

This isn’t isolated. In Munshiganj’s Sirajdikhan Upazila, North Abirpara village, on January 25 night, miscreants smashed Saraswati’s head and overturned her veena at a household shrine—another quiet desecration in the dead of night.

In Khulna’s Paikgacha, the historic Shibbati Sri Sri Ras Temple faced similar filth on January 12 evening. Worshippers found the Ras Puja idol vandalised during evening lamp lighting; reports suggest shoes hung on deities in an ultimate insult. Locals alerted police and committees, but accountability remains a cruel joke.

These incidents pile onto BHBCOP’s grim tally: over 2,000 communal attacks since August 2024, including 95+ temple assaults in 2025 alone, surging into 2026 with 9 more worship site hits by late January.

Yunus’ Complicit Silence

The Yunus’ regime, allied with Jamaat fanatics, presides over this Hindu-hating spree with deliberate inaction. False blasphemy pretexts, mob violence, and idol-smashing go unpunished—creating a culture where extremists act freely. Yunus downplays it all as “criminal,” not communal, while minorities face existential dread before February 12’s rigged polls.

Hindus aren’t just fearful—they’re being systematically erased. Temples founded on harmony are turned into battlegrounds by a government that protects perpetrators over victims. How many more broken idols, how much more shattered faith, before the world forces Yunus to answer for his bloody legacy?
