A record amount of toll was collected from vehicles crossing the Padma Bridge over the last 24 hours. According to relevant sources, approximately Tk 48 million was collected during this period as thousands of vehicles used the bridge.
The flow of homebound travelers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha has significantly increased traffic on the bridge, especially from the country’s southwestern districts. The movement of private cars, buses, trucks, and goods-carrying vehicles rose sharply, leading to the high toll collection.
Bridge authorities said additional staff have been deployed at toll plazas to manage the heavy traffic pressure. Multiple toll booths remain operational to ensure smooth and uninterrupted vehicle movement without major congestion.
Analysts believe the Padma Bridge has not only revolutionized transportation in the southern region of Bangladesh but is also making a major contribution to the national economy. The growing daily toll revenue reflects the bridge’s strong economic impact.
Meanwhile, authorities expect traffic pressure on the bridge to increase further in the coming days as Eid travel intensifies.
