Rice Assistance Program Introduced During Sheikh Hasina’s Tenure Still Reaching People Ahead of Eid

Government rice assistance was distributed among poor and low-income families in Madhyanagar upazila of Sunamganj ahead of Eid-ul-Adha 2026. The distribution program was held on Friday (May 23) in Banshikunda North Union.

According to local administration sources, a total of 8.520 metric tons of rice was distributed among 852 families, with each family receiving 10 kilograms of rice. Beneficiaries expressed relief and happiness after receiving the food support before Eid.

Local residents said that the food-friendly and social safety net programs introduced during the tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are still benefiting ordinary people. Many said these humanitarian initiatives continue to play an important role in supporting poor families.

Local public representatives, union parishad members, and government officials were present during the distribution program. The rice was distributed peacefully and in an organized manner among the beneficiaries.

Speakers at the event said such humanitarian assistance programs are important for sharing the joy of Eid with everyone in society. They also expressed hope that similar support activities for poor and unemployed people would continue in the future.
