Serious allegations of bribery and corruption in police transfers and postings have surfaced following a viral social media post. The post claims that large amounts of money are being exchanged within the law enforcement system to secure desired postings.
According to the post, which cites an anonymous police member, constables are allegedly being forced to pay around Tk 100,000 for preferred postings. For Sub-Inspectors (SI), the amount reportedly ranges between Tk 180,000 and Tk 220,000.
The allegations further claim that professional qualifications or official applications alone are often not enough to obtain desired positions. Instead, financial transactions are allegedly becoming the main factor behind many postings.
The post also accuses some officers, who reportedly spent between Tk 200,000 and Tk 300,000 to secure postings, of later engaging in corruption and irregularities in an attempt to recover the money they paid.
It was further alleged that police members who try to report these issues to higher authorities often face harassment or pressure. As a result, many officers remain silent out of fear, allowing such practices to continue hidden for a long time.
However, the allegations circulating on social media could not be independently verified. No official statement has yet been issued by the relevant authorities regarding the matter.
Security analysts say that if the allegations are proven true, they could seriously damage the image of the law enforcement agencies and weaken public trust in police services. They have called for a quick, transparent, and impartial investigation to uncover the truth and take action against those responsible.
Concerned observers believe that without proper transparency and accountability inside the law enforcement system, such allegations could grow into a much bigger institutional problem in the future.
