Sheikh Hasina Extends Pohela Boishakh Greetings, Calls for Unity and Renewal

On the occasion of Bengali New Year 1433, Sheikh Hasina has extended her heartfelt greetings to the people of the country. In her New Year message, she highlighted the importance of this traditional festival and called on everyone to embrace a spirit of renewal and hope.

She said that Pohela Boishakh is not just a celebration, but a symbol of Bengali identity, culture, and heritage. It brings a message of new beginnings and encourages people to leave behind sorrow, decay, and negativity, and to move forward with fresh energy.

As the President of Bangladesh Awami League, Sheikh Hasina noted that the Bengali New Year is a universal festival that unites people regardless of religion, caste, or background. She added that the calendar system, introduced during the Mughal era in the context of an agrarian economy, has now evolved into a global celebration for Bengalis.

She also mentioned that the traditional “Mangal Shobhajatra” procession has been recognized as part of the world’s cultural heritage, reflecting the spirit of unity, harmony, and secularism in Bengali society.

On this auspicious occasion, Sheikh Hasina called upon the people to work together to eliminate injustice, negativity, and darkness, and to build a developed, inclusive, and humane Bangladesh.

Quoting a famous line, she said:
“Let all impurities be wiped away, let decay disappear, let the world be purified through the fire of renewal.”

In her concluding remarks, she expressed hope for peace, prosperity, and progress, saying, “Let darkness give way to dawn, and may Bangladesh live forever.”
