A tragic incident has raised fresh concerns about the country’s deteriorating law and order situation, as a 15-year-old boy lost his life while trying to save his father’s auto-rickshaw from robbers.
The victim, Shanto Kumar Saha, had taken his father’s auto-rickshaw out at night in hopes of earning a small amount of money to support his family.
According to family members, two individuals boarded the auto-rickshaw pretending to be passengers. Shanto believed they were ordinary passengers looking for a ride. However, after reaching a deserted area, the men pushed him into a roadside ditch and attempted to flee with the auto-rickshaw.
Despite falling into the ditch, Shanto quickly got up and began chasing the vehicle, desperate to save the auto-rickshaw, which was his father’s only source of income.
While running after the robbers, a speeding truck coming from behind hit him, killing the teenager on the spot.
The incident has sparked grief and anger among locals. Residents say that the rising incidents of robbery and crime have created a sense of insecurity among ordinary citizens, particularly those who travel or work at night.
Locals have demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the robbery and called for exemplary punishment. They also urged the authorities to take effective measures to improve the country’s law and order situation.
Shanto’s death has left his family and the local community in deep mourning. At an age when he should have been attending school and spending time with friends, the young boy instead became a victim of a tragic and cruel fate.
