After being raped, her throat was slit in an attempted murder; the child was walking in the forest with her throat cut.

SITAKUNDA, CHATTOGRAM

A young girl is in critical condition after surviving a horrific assault and attempted murder in Sitakunda on Sunday, March 1. Police rescued the severely injured victim from the Eco Park in Fakirhat after she was discovered walking through the forest with a critical wound to her neck.

The victim has been identified as Hira, the daughter of Md. Nur Hossain, a resident of Masterpara village in the Kumira Union of Sitakunda.

According to police and medical sources, the child was raped before her attackers slit her throat in an attempt to kill her. Doctors treating the victim stated that the assailants likely abandoned her in the nearby forest, assuming she was dead after she lost consciousness from severe blood loss. Miraculously, the young girl regained consciousness and managed to walk to seek help despite her injuries.

Local police arrived at the scene, rescued the bloodied child, and immediately transported her to the Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex for emergency medical care.

Md. Alomgir Hossain, the Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of the Sitakunda Police Station, confirmed that as her condition stabilized slightly at the hospital, Hira was able to gradually communicate her name and identity to the authorities.

“Her family has been informed of the situation,” OC Hossain stated. Police have officially launched a full-scale investigation into the brutal attack to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, adding that strict legal action will be taken.
