According to local reports, Sirajganj town had been experiencing a significant shortfall in electricity supply. Against a demand of approximately 27 megawatts, the area was receiving only 17 to 20 megawatts. However, it is alleged that after a district-level political leader contacted a minister, the situation changed, and the town began receiving its full required supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In contrast, areas under Sirajganj Palli Bidyut Samity-1 are facing notable shortages. With a total demand of 140 megawatts, only 80 to 90 megawatts are being supplied. As a result, residents of Ullapara, Shahjadpur, Tarash, and Raiganj are enduring power outages lasting three to four hours daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A similar pattern has been observed in Jashore district. In Keshabpur, Monirampur, and Abhaynagar, the combined demand stands at 167 megawatts, while supply is limited to around 101 megawatts. Meanwhile, Jashore Sadar is reportedly receiving its full demand of 52 megawatts without any deficit. This disparity has raised questions among residents regarding whether administrative decisions or political considerations are influencing the distribution process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials from the power sector maintain that such variations are part of routine load management. However, some engineers from the Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO), speaking on condition of anonymity, have indicated that the absence of clear load-shedding directives from the national grid is unusual and warrants further scrutiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Experts emphasize the need for transparency and accountability in power distribution. Persistent disparities between demand and supply across regions could adversely affect agriculture, industry, and everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Farmers, in particular, are facing increasing hardship. A farmer from Keshabpur reported that irregular electricity supply is disrupting irrigation, placing Boro rice cultivation at serious risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
