Exiled Bangladeshi author and secular humanist Taslima Nasreen has urged individuals, institutions, and funding bodies to contact Grameen America<\/a> and all affiliated organisations formally and demand that they sever all ties with Dr. Muhammad Yunus.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cSilence and continued association constitute complicity in ongoing human rights abuses,\u201d she said in a post <\/a>on X on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe call on major donors to Grameen America to immediately re-evaluate their support and on all governments funding the organisation to reconsider their positions. Dr. Yunus\u2019s continued leadership raises profound ethical and legal concerns, as his actions and inaction are enabling crimes that may amount to genocide against religious and ethnic minorities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yunus has served as a director and co-chair of Grameen America and has received compensation from the organisation for at least the past four years, said Dr. Nasreen, a noted feminist and physician. Yunus currently serves as the de facto head of government, serving as the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cSince 2024, his tenure has been marked by grave and widespread human rights violations. Credible reports indicate that mob violence, lynching, and communal attacks have occurred with alarming regularity\u2014often on a near-daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He flies first class, collecting global accolades, while profiting from the indebtedness of poor Hispanic and Black women in the United States through Grameen America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile he speaks on global stages about empowering women entrepreneurs, Bangladeshi garment workers are driven into destitution as factories are burned and livelihoods destroyed by forces aligned with his supporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe celebrates \u2018economic independence\u2019 in America, yet in Bangladesh, women are beaten, coerced into hijab, stripped of freedom of movement, and denied even the most basic safety and dignity.
