The Canada-based Global Center for Democratic Governance (GCDG) on Wednesday night organised a virtual international seminar <\/a>titled \u201cBangladesh in Crisis: Human Rights, Justice, and the Future of Democracy\u201d under the unelected and unconstitutional Yunus regime, backed by the army and radical Islamists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session was chaired by GCDG President, Professor Dr. Md. Habibe Millat, a former Awami League lawmaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Distinguished speakers included Lord Raminder Singh Ranger (Member of the British House of Lords), Michael Rubin (Senior Fellow, American Enterprise Institute), and Charlotte Jacquemart (editor, Public Radio of Switzerland).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlotte Jacquemart stated that 195 criminal cases were filed against journalists during the one-year period from August 2024 to July 2025 under the current interim government rule, marking an increase of more than 550% compared to the previous year. <\/p>\n\n\n

She added that 878 journalists faced various forms of harassment in the same period and demanded the immediate withdrawal of all fabricated cases against journalists and the release of those arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Rubin remarked that Dr. Muhammad Yunus is so immersed in self-centeredness that he is giving more importance to his own interests and revenge than to the good of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his opening address, Professor Dr. Md. Habibe Millat expressed grave concern over ongoing human rights violations, breakdown of law and order, and absence of justice in Bangladesh. He called for the immediate release of all persons implicated in politically motivated false cases, the abolition of the International Crimes Tribunal, and the withdrawal of all such cases. He further stated that the overall situation in the country can only improve if a democratic government is elected through inclusive national elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
