The police released a juvenile as a suspected member of the Bangladesh Chhatra League from Dhanmondi 32 of the capital on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 14-year-old boy was arrested around 10am. His home is in Bhaluka Upazila of Mymensingh.<\/p>\n\n\n

When contacted in the afternoon, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramana Division Deputy Commissioner, Md. Masud Alam told Prothom Alo<\/a> that the detained teenager came from his village home to see the ruins of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The search of his house did not reveal any suspicious or negative information about him. Because of that, he was released from Dhanmondi police station in the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After arresting the teenager, the police said that the behaviour of the detained teenager was suspicious. His words are confusing. He introduced himself as a student. Once he said that he belongs to Chhatra Dal. Another time, he said that he worked for Chhatra Shibir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking at the documents found in the bag of the detained teenager, police suspected that he was associated with the banned organisation Chhatra League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activists have condemned the detention of the teenager on social media while labelling the Yunus regime as a pro-Pakistani one for allowing vandalism and arson at the museum several times since last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) has specific conditions for the detention or arrest of children. In accordance with the principles of the UN’s CRC Charter, Bangladesh enacted the Children’s Act in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Censuring the Yunus regime, Mohammad Ali Arafat, former Information and Broadcasting State Minister, said that the teenager was detained for carrying books about the Liberation War in his bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
