Today, in continuation of this persecution, a planned wave of mob violence was unleashed against Awami League leaders and activists participating in a peaceful procession in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMany were severely injured in barbaric attacks; victims were even obstructed from receiving medical treatment. Some have reportedly been abducted or forcibly disappeared, with ransom demands being made for their release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile cadres of various political parties, including the BNP, are carrying out mob attacks in collusion with the police, law enforcement is simultaneously creating an atmosphere of fear by indiscriminately arresting injured Awami League activists and destroying the environment necessary for fair political practice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
