{"id":3885,"date":"2025-10-04T01:56:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T19:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/?p=3885"},"modified":"2025-10-08T01:54:02","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T19:54:02","slug":"charlie-kirk-shooting-activists-demand-deportation-of-bangladesh-origin-professor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/?p=3885","title":{"rendered":"Charlie Kirk Shooting: Activists demand deportation of Bangladesh-origin professor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Syracuse University in New York took swift action on September 17 to address an uproar over social media posts made by two professors, including Bangladesh-origin Farhana Sultana, about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their appalling remarks included comments such as \u201crest in piss,\u201d \u201cgive him what he valued: no empathy,\u201d referring to him as \u201ctrash,\u201d and even thanking a so-called \u201cwitch\u201d for cursing his life.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"599\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/farhana-sultana-1-599x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3889\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/farhana-sultana-1-599x1024.jpeg 599w, https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/farhana-sultana-1-175x300.jpeg 175w, https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/farhana-sultana-1-768x1313.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/farhana-sultana-1-899x1536.jpeg 899w, https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/farhana-sultana-1-7x12.jpeg 7w, https:\/\/dailyrepublicbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/farhana-sultana-1.jpeg 1198w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>A paid agent of the fascist and unconstitutional Yunus regime, Dr. Farhana Sultana, called Kirk a \u201cgenocidal, white supremacist, pro-gun dude\u201d and said that \u201che died the way he lived.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kirk was gunned down at a Utah campus event on September 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/news\/2025\/09\/prof-faults-syracuse-university-for-intentionally-misleading-statement-on-charlie-kirk-posts.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>, the university implied it had placed both professors on leave and promised to treat the matter \u201cwith utmost seriousness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Daily Orange, an independent student newspaper, reported that both professors are on leave. The newspaper said Jackson is on pre-approved medical leave, while its attempt to contact Farhana Sultana resulted in an automated \u201cI\u2019m unavailable\u201d reply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The university receives around $200 million in federal funding annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, human rights activists and many citizens of the US, Bangladesh and other countries have demanded that Farhana Sultana be deported to Bangladesh immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congresswoman Claudia Tenney recently issued a statement after the two professors mocked the brutal murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile Americans across the country are mourning the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk, two Syracuse University professors, Jenn Jackson and Farhana Sultana, used their platforms to celebrate and mock his death,\u201d said Congresswoman Tenney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis type of conduct is reprehensible and has no place in any institution of higher learning,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSyracuse University must immediately hold these professors accountable and publicly disclose the steps being taken to address their behaviour. If the University continues to employ Professors Jackson and Sultana, it should forfeit every dollar of federal funding. Academic freedom does not extend to celebrating the assassination of an American citizen. Syracuse must act now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who is this rogue woman?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to official websites, Farhana Sultana is a Professor in the Department of Geography and the Environment at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, where she has taught since 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-syracuse-university-today wp-block-embed-syracuse-university-today\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/news.syr.edu\/faculty-experts\/farhana-sultana\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She is also the Research Director for Environmental Collaboration and Conflicts in the Program for the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration (PARCC) at Maxwell School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Syracuse University, she is a faculty affiliate\/associate across several programs and departments, including Women\u2019s and Gender Studies Department.
