Leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Awami League and affiliated organisations celebrated the 78th birth anniversary of party president, five-time prime minister and daughter of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina, in Bangladesh and abroad on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They cut cakes, distributed food among the poor and held discussions at various places in Bangladesh as part of the programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speakers at the programmes called for unity for a massive movement to oust the fascist Yunus regime and bring back Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Bangladesh, the party activists could not hold the programmes in open places due to repression by the police and pro-government elements. So, most of the programmes were held in undisclosed venues to evade arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n

In Dhaka\u2019s Demra, the Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised a programme to celebrate the birthday of Jananetri Sheikh Hasina, who has been in exile since the Jamat-backed coup in August last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Dinajpur<\/a>, a special prayer was held, and food distribution was conducted among the poor people by the Awami Swechchhasebak League. Tonmoy Sikder, All European Awami League Organising Secretary and Joint Secretary of Sheikh Hasina Sangram Parishad, and Lavlu Akon, the labour affairs secretary of Sheikh Hasina Sangram Parishad, took the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Mymensingh, the leaders and activists of Chhatra League\u2019s Phulpur and Tarakanda upazila units cut a cake to observe the birth anniversary of Desh Ratna Sheikh Hasina.<\/p>\n\n\n

Born on September 28, 1947, in Tungipara, Gopalganj, Sheikh Hasina\u2019s life was shaped by the turbulent yet inspiring journey of Bangladesh\u2019s struggle for independence. As the eldest daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, she grew up in a household where the seeds of liberation, equality, and justice were sown. The tragic assassination of her father and most of her family in 1975 was a personal and national catastrophe that could have broken a lesser spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet, Sheikh Hasina emerged from this unimaginable loss with a resolve to carry forward her father\u2019s dream of a \u201cSonar Bangla\u201d (Golden Bengal). Exiled and targeted, she faced immense personal risk, yet her courage never wavered. Returning to Bangladesh in 1981, she took on the leadership of the Awami League, a party founded on the principles of democracy and secularism and began her lifelong mission to rebuild a fractured nation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
