Moncho-71, a newly formed platform, organised a roundtable titled “Our Great Liberation War and the Constitution of Bangladesh” at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Thursday, where Gono Forum Emeritus President Dr Kamal Hossain was slated to attend as the chief guest.<\/p>\n\n\n

The platform was formed under the initiatives of coordination by Prof Abdullah Al Mahmud and senior Supreme Court lawyer ZI Khan Panna to prevent the distortion of Bangladesh’s Liberation War history and to protect the dignity of freedom fighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journalist Monjurul Alam Panna was threatened with dire consequences recently<\/strong> by war criminal Ghulam Azam’s son Brig Gen (Retd) Abdullahil Amaan Azmi<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The event was supposed to begin at 10am, but was delayed by one hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freedom fighter Abdul Latif Siddique, who was expelled from Awami League in 2014, was invited as a guest at the event. Slogans like “Joy Bangla” and “Joy Bangabandhu” were chanted during Siddique’s arrival. Former secretary Abu Alam Shahid Khan and senior journalist Monjurul Alam Panna <\/a>were also present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dhaka University Law Department\u2019s Professor Sheikh Hafizur Rahman spoke first. He said: “We are seeing attempts to throw away the country’s constitution. Behind this are Jamaat-Shibir and the National Citizen Party (NCP).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Right after his speech, a group of people entered the DRU auditorium in a procession, chanting slogans such as “Let the spirit of July rise again”, “Catch the League, fill the jails”, and “July fighters, unite and fight.”<\/p>\n\n\n

The agitators called themselves the July Warriors and chanted slogans against Siddique during the captivity. They also tore the banner of the discussion and assaulted other guests and attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least 19 people were injured in the organised attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 12:15pm, the police<\/a> came and took 15-16 people, including Siddique, into custody and took them to the DB office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attackers identified<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Crack Platoon-Bangladesh Cyberforce Team has identified the mastermind of the attack as Jamaat-e-Islam’s Paltan Unit Ameer Shahin Ahmed Khan. It has also collected all kinds of financial and communication information, including family information, data obtained from digital devices and recent bKash transactions of some of the participants in this incident!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the leadership of Shahin Ahmed, others who participated in the attack were Sakibul Hasan Chowdhury (father Abdul Shahid Chowdhury, mother Sitara Begum) of Kulaura, Moulvibazar; Imam Uddin Baba (father Jamal Uddin) of Feni; Fahad Sarkar (father Md.
