Awami League President and five-time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly denounced the horrific attack and barbaric killings in Gopalganj as part of a deep conspiracy by illegal occupier, murderer-fascist Muhammad Yunus and his gang.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In a statement issued on Wednesday night, the daughter of Bangabandhu, Deshratna Sheikh Hasina, called upon the citizens to unite in the spirit of progressive, democratic, modern, and non-communal ideals to crush the tyranny of murderer-fascist Yunus, the godfather of mob terrorism, and to protect Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She extended her heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the \u201cbrave people of Gopalganj\u2014born of a heroic land\u2014for standing up and resisting Yunus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs<\/a>, expressed condolences to the bereaved families and relatives, and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also instructed local leaders to ensure proper medical treatment and extend all necessary support and solidarity to the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media reports confirmed four deaths and injuries to two dozen people from gunshots till midnight. However, the party leaders say the death toll is much higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The four were identified as Ramzan Kazi, 18, from Kotalipara; Emon, 24, of Sadar Upazila; Dipto Saha, 25, a Chhatra League activist of the town; and Sohel Molla, 41, of Tungipara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe entire nation has witnessed who, since August 5, has desecrated the sacred pilgrimage site of the Bengali people\u2014Bangabandhu\u2019s residence, the memorial museum of the great Liberation War, the national flag, the national anthem, and our holy Constitution. The people have seen who has perpetrated genocide, police killings, rape, robbery, mugging, and looting\u2014launching attacks and causing destruction at countless homes, offices, businesses, and vital state installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe public enemy, murderer-fascist, anti-national, and patron of terrorism, Yunus \u2014 through his mob terrorism and the so-called NCP\u2014has instigated newly emerged militant-terrorists who, following the pattern of August 5, again mobilised under the banner of a so-called ‘March to Gopalganj’ programme with the intent to demolish the resting place of Bangabandhu in Tungipara, the very heart of Bengali identity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheikh Hasina said: \u201cBangabandhu and Bangladesh are one and inseparable. An attack on either will not go unanswered by the Bengali nation. And today, the people of Gopalganj did not sit silently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the struggle to protect Bangladesh and Bangabandhu, the brave people of Gopalganj, despite all odds, defied tear gas, bullets, and repression, and defended Bangabandhu\u2019s mausoleum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe mercenary forces of the murderer-fascist Yunus opened fire indiscriminately on innocent civilians in Gopalganj. In response, several have been martyred by law enforcement gunfire, and countless others have been seriously injured. This despicable terrorism by the state-sponsored forces and goons unleashed by murderer-fascist Yunus surpasses even medieval barbarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI strongly condemn, protest, and denounce this horrific massacre and the state-patronised terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She firmly added that the murderous, fascist Yunus and his gang will not be able to suppress the democratic rights of the people of Bangladesh through such barbarity and cruelty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe nation is outraged by this gang\u2019s efforts to destroy the legacy of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, our glorious Liberation War, and the very existence of our country through their destructive acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
